The Planning and Zoning Board of Polk County works diligently to guide the development and growth of our community, balancing progress with sustainability. By regulating land use and zoning standards, they help create a cohesive vision for residential, commercial, and public spaces. PLANNING AND ZONING BOARD MEETINGS:

The Polk County Planning and Zoning Board meets on the third Thursday of every month unless there are no items on the agenda. Meetings are hosted at the Polk County Commissioners Meeting Room located at: 73 Clines Ingram Jackson Road, Cedartown, Ga 30125.

MAY PUBLIC NOTICES:

The Polk County Planning Commission will conduct a public meeting on May 21, 2026 at 6:00PM in the Polk County Board of Commissioners meeting room, located at 73 Clines Ingram Jackson Road, Cedartown, GA 30125.

The Planning Commission will review the following applications:
  • Case #: SU26-02: Chad Carlton requesting a special-use permit for a U-Pick Strawberry Farm located at Mack Jones Rd. Aragon, Ga 30104  (Tax Parcel: 046-106 & 046-107). This property contains 28.34 acres.
  • Case #: SU-03: Nathan Sedgwich / Freddy Dunn requesting a special-use permit for a campground located at 110 Peachtree Rd. Rockmart, GA 30153 (Tax Parcel: 061-058 & 060B-022). This property contains 63.03 acres.
  • Case #: Z26-06: John Watkins / Robert Upton requesting to rezone three properties located at Collins Rd. Cedartown, GA 30125_(Tax Parcels: 028B-034, 028B-035, 028B-036). The applicant is requesting to rezone the property from RA-8 to R-1. This property contains 1.578 acres.
  • Case #: Z26-07: Nathan Sedgwich / Freddy Dunn requesting to rezone property located at Peachtree Rd. Rockmart, GA 30153_(Tax Parcel: 060B-022). The applicant is requesting to rezone the property from R-1 to A-1. This property contains 10.153 acres.

Please contact the Polk County Planning & Zoning department at 770-749-2104 to receive more information on the applications mentioned above. The Polk County Board of Commissioners will review the applications on June 2, 2026 at 5:15PM. The meeting will be held in the Commission Meeting Room, located at 73 Clines Ingram Jackson Road, Cedartown, GA 30125. If you have any interest in the proposed rezoning, you are encouraged to attend the meetings as stated herein.
