Fire Department History


The Polk County Volunteer Fire Department, Cedartown, Georgia, was organized in the year of 1972, as an umbrella of the Polk County Emergency Management Agency. Roy E. Anderson, organized nine stations which operate under the Polk County Board of Commissioners.  The stations were organized and built between the period of 1972 and 1982, and are located strategically over Polk County within small communities.

Approximately 80 volunteer firefighters make up nine (9) fire stations within the unincorporated areas of Polk County and is required to maintain a minimum level of training each year.
